FAQ

How do you get Golden ingot in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Two verified routes. Furnace II (the Iron Forge tech, with the Bellows extension) smelts 3 Golden nugget + 30 Fuel into 2 Golden ingot in 9 ticks at mastery 4. Or skip the nuggets: the Formulation Bench transmutes 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Philosopher Stone into 1 Golden ingot in 12 ticks at mastery 8.
Where do Golden nuggets come from?
Mining and transmutation. The Furnace II route consumes nuggets directly, and the Formulation Bench can transmute 1 Iron Ore + 1 Philosopher Stone into 1 Golden nugget at mastery 6 — handy when nuggets are not dropping fast enough for your smelting plan.
What is the Philosopher Stone?
The transmutation catalyst. It is mixed at the Laboratory II from a 3 red / 3 green / 3 blue rune formula, and it powers both gold recipes at the Formulation Bench — stock it before you plan any gold transmutation run.
What is gold used for?
The Golden ingot forges the Golden Zombie Collar — the mid-tier collar that fits corpses with up to 10 red skulls (1 Golden ingot + 5 Faith). As currency, gold is the big denomination: Bishop prices Steel Ingot at 1 silver each with 100 silver equal to 1 gold.

What is gold in Graveyard Keeper 2?

Gold shows up in two item forms — Golden nugget (the raw find) and Golden ingot (the refined bar) — plus the currency sense, where 1 gold equals 100 silver. Both item forms have exactly two verified sources, and neither is a mystery once you know the two benches involved.

How to get Golden ingot

Route 1 — smelt it. Furnace II, unlocked by the Iron Forge tech, turns 3 Golden nugget + 30 Fuel → 2 Golden ingot in 9 ticks at mastery 4 (the Bellows extension is required; the Fireman family of perks boosts ingot yields on the furnace line).

Route 2 — transmute it. The Formulation Bench (in the Alchemy Lab) converts 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Philosopher Stone → 1 Golden ingot in 12 ticks at mastery 8 — a direct iron-to-gold bridge when nuggets are scarce. The same bench runs the cheaper step, 1 Iron Ore + 1 Philosopher Stone → 1 Golden nugget (8 ticks, mastery 6), if you would rather smelt through Furnace II anyway.

The calculator carries both routes: run the production calculator on either recipe and it costs the ticks, energy and mastery breakpoints for your current level.

What is gold used for?

  • Golden Zombie Collar — the mid-tier collar fits corpses with up to 10 red skulls and consumes 1 Golden ingot + 5 Faith; between Bronze (5 skulls) and Steel (99 skulls) it is the workhorse collar of a growing workforce. The full worker pipeline is in the how to make zombies guide.
  • Currency for big purchases — 1 gold = 100 silver, which is exactly how Steel Ingot is priced: 1 silver per ingot, 100 per gold, no discounts.

Watch the inputs, not the output

Gold production is input-hungry: the smelt route burns 30 Fuel per craft, and the transmute route eats Philosopher Stones. That makes fuel supply — Firewood → Firewood shed → 20 Fuel — the quiet constraint on any gold run, the same constraint the factory production calculator exposes when you model Furnace II as a preset and count the stock needed per day.
