How do you make zombies in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Two routes, in order. First, the story hands you two zombies for free: complete the Plague Doctor’s “Sweet Dreams” quest and Gunter’s “Friendship Written in the Stars” quest line, and you have a small workforce before spending a single resource. Second, everything past that comes from the Resurrection Table in the morgue — the repeatable pipeline this guide walks through.
What do you need for one resurrection?
Community wiki data is consistent on the per-zombie checklist:
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| A complete corpse | All 6 organs present: skull, brain, heart, guts, bones, skin. A Surgeon’s Error placeholder counts as missing. |
| 1 Reanimation Liquid | Mixed at the Laboratory II from a 2 red / 1 green / 4 blue rune formula — or bought from Gunter and the Alchemist. |
| A matching Zombie Collar | Bronze fits up to 5 red skulls (1 Bronze Ingot + 1 Blue Crystal + 3 Faith); Golden up to 10 (1 Golden ingot + 5 Faith); Steel up to 99 (1 Steel Ingot + 10 Faith). |
| The right day | The Resurrection device works on Envy day — or any day while you hold the God of the storms buff. |

The step-by-step resurrection pipeline
- Bury and re-dig corpses with good red-skull counts — every red skull becomes a perk slot on the finished zombie.
- Autopsy carefully. Keep all six organs intact (or install replacements); a Surgeon’s Error slot disqualifies the body.
- Craft or buy the Reanimation Liquid. The Laboratory II formula needs 2 red, 1 green and 4 blue runes; Gunter and the Alchemist sell the finished bottle.
- Forge the collar that fits the corpse. Bronze covers most early corpses; the Golden collar needs a Golden ingot, and the Steel collar needs 1 Steel Ingot — see the Steel Ingot guide for why that one is always bought from Bishop.
- Stage bodies on the Resurrection Table — the device raises every prepared corpse in one activation, so batch them.
- Wait for Envy day (or secure the storm buff via the Prayer for Storms) and pull the lever.
- Assign the new zombie to a station. Its mastery comes from the zombie tech tree, and 46 of the game’s 84 stations accept zombie workers.
How many zombies should you aim for?
The cap is set by your Resurrection Lab quality, and exceeding it triggers the “Excessive zombies” prayer-income penalty — worse than not having the worker. The sustainable ladder is: 2 story zombies → a handful of table zombies for gather posts → PR Machine programs to push the cap from +10 toward +80 before staffing a full factory line.
